Brilliante Award

ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਛਾਂਵੇ… has won a bloggers award. readerswords has considered me good enough for the Brilliante Award.
He said :

Jasdeep brings out contemporary Punjabi poetry and often renders them into excellent English

Now its my turn to follow the rules of Brilliante Awards by passing it on to the 5 bloggers i admire:

Uddari –  Fauzia Rafiq and other prolific writers collaborate to blog about contemporary Punjabi Literature, art, events and  movements .

Folk Punjabi- Deepinder puts nice effort to blog about folk Punjabi boliaan.

Punjabi Haiku–  Amarjit Sathi has started a new wave in Punjabi haiku writing, works  of new writers and translation of Haiku from around the world is posted here.

RoopScoop – for doing wonderful job by starting a blog like unchahi on female foeticide.

Lafjan da Pul – Deep Jagdeep wants to bridge the divide by making it easy for people who write in Gurmukhi and provide a platform for everything that is Punjabi.

There are so many blogs in my reading list that should have been brillante award winners but these five bloggers share a connection of being Punjabi centric and as ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਛਾਂਵੇ is Punjabi centric too so they got it.

I want to know suggestions from ਸ਼ਬਦਾਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਛਾਂਵੇ readers what changes they want to see here and what are the things they want to read more .

ਪਰ-ਮੁਕਤ ਪਰਵਾਜ਼/ Par Mukat Parwaaz

English Transliteration:

‘par-mukat parwaaz’ da jazba jihade loon loon ‘ch hai ,
us parinde nu kise vee pinjre da dar nahin |

is talaa vich bahut chikkarh hai ,chalo manniaan, hazur,
par nigaahan pherio na, is thaan neelophar vi hai |

garkana hi garkana kion sikhkhde jaaie asin,
jad ki uddan vaaste dharti ate anbar vi hai |

kranti es ton vaddi, bhala kee hor honi e,
asin haakam di thaan usnu, hai jansewak kaha ditta |

English Translation :

If the blood has spirit, to fly without wings,
The bird can’t have fear, of the cage .

The world is muddy pond, we may accept it,
But don’t turn your eyes, it has a lotus too.

Why do we learn only, drowning and sinking ?
When we have a large sky and globe to fly .

Revolution, would not have been better
We have given the name social servant, to the ruler.

(Remembering Tsunami Tragedy)

Ih kee bhaana vartia aai,

Main Kalpana vi nahin kar sakda dukh di,
Lehraan vich jaandi see maut shookdi ,
Us ne naal aapne har kise da dukh-sukh rordiaa,

Mere Pachtaae kee hon vaala aai,

John Lennon – Imagine

John Lennon – Imagine

Imagine there’s no heaven,
It’s easy if you try,
No hell below us,
Above us only sky,

Imagine all the people living for today…
Imagine there’s no countries,
It isn’t hard to do,Nothing to kill or die for,
No religion too,
Imagine all the people living life in peace…

Imagine no possesions,
I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,

Imagine all the people Sharing all the world…
You may say I’m a dreamer,
but I’m not the only one,
I hope some day you’ll join us,
And the world will live as one

This is the poem written and sung John Lennon..

He was the Rock star from the very famous Beatles group which rocked billions of people from Nineteen Sixties to Eighties . He was assassinated on December 8th 1980 at a concert in New York.

John Lennon-Life Story
1960 s
The world’s most powerful men are getting high on the sweet smell of napalm.
Vietnamese peasants vapourise into thin air. Nerds work overtime on Uranium-365.

Citizen Cohn’s shadow still lurks at Berkeley. McCarthy is dead but not buried.
A winter of discontent engulfs the Sorbonne. Life is elsewhere on the streets of Paris.
Conspiracy theories creep into the Kremlin.Laughable loves collapse into obsessions in Prague.

Here comes a working-class son. No money to go to college. Holes in his shoe soles. No trust in the system. Hope in his soul. A bloke with guitar in his hands. Music in his heart. And imagination.

Lyrics. Strings. And imagination.

He captures imagination on both sides of the pond. He raises love sickness to philosophical levels. Teen sensation. Psychedelic guru. Peacemaker. He knows when the first bullet is fired, politics goes out of the window.
He imagines a world where there is no war.
Love is the answer.

Naive. Romantic. Sex Symbol. A thinker. An Icon.
A cultural point of reference. A legend. He also plays music.
More popular than Jesus. Beatles Baba in the ganja-filled streets of Rishikesh. Guilty by suspicion in CIA files at Langley. Trapped in the deranged mind of Mark David Chapman.
It’s too good to last.

December 8, 1980.
A lonely street. A loaded gun. Four shots in Manhattan. Three pierced the heart. One lodged in the brain. End of music. End of poetry. Death of imagination.

Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi !

Hazaaron Khwaishen aisi, ke Har Khwahish pe dum nikle…
Bahut nikle mere armaan, lekin phir bhee kam nikle…
Muhabbat me nahin hai ,farak jeene aur marne kaa..
Usi ko dekhkar jee lete hain, jis kafir pe dum nikle..
Hazaaron Khwaishen aisi, ke Har Khwahish pe dum nikle…
Bahut nikle mere armaan, lekin phir bhee kam nikle…

These are lines from a famous gazal by great poet Mirza Ghalib..

But recently I watched a movie by the title “Hazaaron Khwaishen aisi” ..
The movie is true to its title
The film deals with
The Socio-Political Scenario of India in Seventies…
The naxalite movement of Bihar at that time..
The youth politics of Delhi …
The dirty game of poitics by Indira and Sanjay Gandhi regime
The infamous 1975 emergency..
and an immortal love story ..

The film is very well made so is the reason why it was featured at 13 international film festival …

This is one of the best movies I have ever seen in Hindi and is worth watching ..

Religious India ! A recent Times News Survey has …

Religious India !

A recent Times News Survey has concluded that 87% people in India declared themselves as believers of some religion- making them the most religious country in the world afterPhilippiness.

The point to ponder here is what religion has given to india ..

-The 1947 partition,exodus and massacre ..
-The 1984 Hindu-Sikh Riots in Delhi ..
-The 2002 Hindu-Musilm Riots in Gujrat ..
-Unending War in Kashmir
-and many such incidents …..

Is this the reason Indians feel proud ?
Is this the reason Indians are most religious ?

Has not relegion demolished a whole country Afghanistan and made their people to live in Stone Age Conditions ?

What are your views ?
